Introduction to Postgraduate Education


Graduate education at Suzhou University of Technology commenced in 2004. Since 2012, the university has engaged in joint cultivation of master's students with Soochow University and China University of Mining and Technology, training a total of 301 students to date. In 2017, the university was designated as a planned development unit for master's degree conferral in Jiangsu Province. The institution gained approval as a master's degree-granting unit in 2024. Currently, it offers three professional master's degree programs in Electronic Information, Design, and Biological and Medicine.

 

To support the development of graduate education, the university established the Discipline Construction and Graduate Education Office in 2017. In 2024, the Graduate Office, the CPC Committee for Graduate Student Affairs, and the Discipline Construction Office were established.

 

Since its upgrade to a university, Suzhou University of Technology has continuously advanced the development of disciplinary platforms at both provincial and university levels. To date, seven disciplines have been approved as Jiangsu Provincial Key Disciplines: Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering, Biological Engineering, Chinese Language and Literature, Mechanical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, and Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics. The university has conducted six rounds of key discipline development at the institutional level, with ten plateau disciplines including Education currently under construction. The disciplines of Engineering, Materials Science, and Chemistry have all entered the top 1% in the ESI global rankings. The Chemical Engineering discipline has been listed in the Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.
